| The German Shepherd Dog was created to be a dog capable
of performing a variety of tasks and fill a variety of needs, all of
which required a dog who was sound mentally and physically,
sound of nerve, and willing to work in partnership with the owner. In
the past year more and more people have become aware of the importance
of these characteristics in a breeding program as more and more dogs are
put to work assisting in security, serving as service dogs to people
needing help, and acting as family protectors.
Wanting dogs that can work is not new to us. For years we have
stressed the trainability of our dogs, breeding dogs we enjoy living
with and working with. Fortunately these same dogs are able to
successfully perform very important jobs in their new homes.
We do not breed specifically for Police Service, but
Fairway dogs wear a badge:

We do not breed specifically for search and
rescue, but a Fairway dog is a working certified Avalance Dog:

We do breed them specifically to be sound and
trainable, and that makes them very good as Therapy dogs and service
dogs of many kinds.

We have other Fairway v Nadelwald dogs currently in
training for a variety of purposes. As they join the "work
force" and we receive photos of them, we will be featuring them
here.
We know that it takes more than breeding sound,
trainable dogs for these animals to succeed. They also need talented,
dedicated trainers and handlers with the abilities to blend into a good
working team with the dog. Even as family companions and protectors,
these dogs require good training and handling skills to bring out
the best the breeding program has created. We appreciate the hard work
and dedication their trainers have invested in them.
